Not everyone needs a backpack or a bulky running belt when going for a run. The average runner doesn’t train more than 3 miles.
Many hit the trails or the road for their workout in 30 minutes or less. The goal is to train short and efficiently.
When you head out for a short run, you won’t want to bring much with you. If you really think about it, all you need is your house key and phone, right?
It’s so easy to forget to bring a form of identification. Who wants to bring a small piece of plastic, anyways.
We didn’t think much about the importance of an ID until a blogger reached out to us to share her story. The outreach was random and left us speechless.

I went out for a typical run, not too far from my house.
I didn’t want to wear a running belt or think I needed anything other than my phone.
Shortly into my run I was hit by a car and knocked unconscious. It took hours for the police to identify me and the hospital to tell my parents because I had no form of ID with me.
Thankfully I am okay, but now I never run without my ID and Wrist Locker - wrist wallet.
She needed an easier way to stash the small, but VERY important stuff.
A wrist wallet can quite literally save your life one day. Runners highly underestimate the importance of identification. It can be easy to get caught up in your run and turn up your headphones without being vigilant.

Whether you need all or one of the above things, make sure to be conscious of bringing along an ID. I mean it weighs less than an ounce so no need to worry about restricting your future PR...
It’s also important to be aware of your surroundings. If you can’t run without your headphones, try not to have the volume higher than 50%, EVEN if “Stronger” by Kanye West is next on the playlist. (Yea, we actually googled the top running song...we know you have it in your library).

- Trust your intuition about a person or an area you’re in
- Switch up your running route/location/pattern

YOU have the power to control where you run, the distance you want to achieve, and WHAT you bring to the trail. Next time you leave the house, don’t forget your wrist wallet with a form of ID (and maybe a snack).
